Slipknot Debut Music Video for XIX

Having released three music videos from last year’s .5: The Gray Chapter, Slipknot have just released another new clip, this time for “XIX.” The somber opening track of their 2014 album is a eulogy of sorts for fallen bass player Paul Gray who passed away in 2010. The roman numeral XIX translates to 19, which is the number of years after the band formed in 1995 until the release of .5: The Gray Chapter in 2014.

Percussionist Shawn Crahan spoke of the song in an interview with Rolling Stone:

“I don’t usually let people see me cry. It’s too hard. But when I heard what Corey Taylor sang on the song ‘XIX,’ I cried and cried and cried. It hurt so bad.”

This video follows “The Negative One“, “The Devil In I“, and “Killpop“, all of which came out before .5: The Gray Chapter was released nearly a year ago. Their first studio album since 2008’s All Hope Is Gone, it debuted on the Billboard charts at #1, selling about 132,000 copies in its first week of release. Slipknot will be headlining Knotfest in Mexico in December along with Lamb of God, Megadeth, and tons more bands.
